Kundalini Energy And Your Chakras
84What are Chakras?
A series of subtle, fine energies permeate and emanate outside of our physical bodies, and they are called chakras. Psychics believe that people get most of their energies, such as physical, emotional, and mental, from invisible rays which come down into our bodies through very tiny openings in the top of our heads. These rays may be a single color, or several colors. The color and its quantity and position will affect the talents, vitality, disposition, personality, character, and behavior patterns of the individual. Once these energies come into the head, they are filtered and reflected downward through seven etheric energy centers or energy wheels, called chakras. These centers are located just in front of the spinal column, in the ether, which is just a thin substance through which electromagnetic waves can travel.

Kundalini and Chi Energy are The Same Thing
The crown chakra at the top of the head can be found at the intersection of two lines, one coming down the head from the fontanel at the upper back of the head, (the soft spot on a newborn baby’s head) the other through the middle of the forehead. The brow center, or third eye, is found at the first cervical vertebra, or between your two eyes. The throat chakra is at the third cervical and the heart center at the first thoracic. The solar plexus is at the eighth thoracic, the spleen center at the first lumbar, and the sacrum, or base chakra, just above the coccyx. As this subtle energy comes into the head, it moves downward an extremely fine invisible stem located in the center of the spinal cord. As the energy moves downward through each center, it becomes more dense, so that when it reaches the chakra at the base of the spine, it is quite heavy, and has a very low and slow frequency. Here it mixes with a dense, dormant earth energy known in yoga as kundalini energy, or serpent power. The kundalini energies are often described as a snake since they sort of “crawl” downward to their bases in your body. They are also known as your “chi” energies.
BENEFICIAL TO DIRECT "CHI" ENERGIES UPWARD TOWARDS CROWN CHAKRA
Both Eastern and Western cultures believe it is the responsibility of the individual consciousness to try to raise, mix and balance these energy forces and direct them upward. This is done through different meditation techniques, where a person quiets their mind to outside distractions and tries to get in touch with their inner selves. Any type of meditation a person begins is very serious, and must be practiced for quite some time before they will make any progress, so I will not discuss that much here. Suffice it to say that a beginner in meditation will enjoy better relaxation, clearer mental processses, and be able to concentrate and focus better, thus improving their health in both physical and mental ways. As the kundalini energies begin to climb upward, they are blended and transmuted, creating many types of experiences that cause profound changes in a person’s awareness. The main goal is to open and balance each of these energy centers fully in a harmonious flow through the whole mind, body and spirit system of the person.
THE SEVEN CHAKRAS CENTERS SHOULD NOT BE BLOCKED
These seven centers have a significant effect on the endocrine glands, and if the flow through these energy wheels is blocked or disrupted by too little or too much activity the corresponding endocrine center of the particular chakra area will be affected. These glands affect the nervous system, and are what controls, balances, and self regulates the unified mind and body. Even a slight imbalance in these areas can cause fluctuations of powerful hormone secretions that enter the blood stream and create changes of mood, appearance, relaxation, respiration, digestion, initiative and intelligence. This energy is also called chi, as in T’ai chi and the ki force used in karate and akido, as well as it’s manipulation is the basic principle of acupuncture. Chiropractic treatment also works from a similar premise, which believes any misalignment in the spine causes illness, (not to mention back pain) and manual manipulation of specific pressure points will help a person get well. The acupuncture can be thought of as small streams flowing from seven rivers of light. If these centers are blocked or out of harmony, the person becomes weak and ill. In Chinese and Occult medicine, all physical, emotional, and psychological illness is because of an imbalance of this vital energy flow. Once the natural balance is restored, the person is again well, healthy, harmonious and whole.
ANOTHER WORD FOR "CHI" ENERGY IS "KUNDALINI" ENERGY
THE ROOT CHAKRA, OR FIRST CENTER
The first center is the root chakra, located at the base of the spine. This is the seat of the physical life force, or kundalini. The function of this center is concerned with basic existence and survival. This is the chakra that influences sexual activity, regeneration and creativity, and on a chart its color is always shown as red. It affects the sex glands, ovaries and testes, and is responsible for the sex drive and reproduction. The transmutation of this procreative energy can be used and sublimated into all kinds of creative activity, personal growth, health, healing intuition and intelligence. This chakra shows how "grounded" you are, and can even show how environmentally minded you are. The root chakra is influenced by the planet Saturn, its metal is lead, and the square is its symbolic form. Smell is the dominant sense of the base chakra and the sound vibration to be used in meditation is VA.
THE SECOND CHAKRA, OR SPLEEN CHAKRA
The second center or spleen chakra is located halfway between the pubis and the navel, usually considered the center of sexual activity. Our spleens are the centers for cleansing and purification, as its endocrine function is connected to the liver and pancreas. Other areas influenced by the spleen chakra are metabolism, digestion, and detoxification of poisons, immunity to disease and the balance of blood sugar. The second chakra is ruled by the planet Jupiter, water is its element, tin is its metal and taste is its dominant sense. The symbol for this chakra is a pyramid with the capstone removed. The color associated with the second chakra is orange, and the sound vibration is BA.
THE THIRD CHAKRA, THE SOLAR PLEXUS
The third chakra is the solar plexus, located just above the navel. It is the seat of our power and emotion. It affects the adrenal glands, which in turn profoundly affect the sympathetic nervous system, muscular energy, heartbeat, digestion, circulation and mood. Think about a time when you feel threatened. What’s the first thing you do? You cross your arms over your solar plexus, to “protect” yourself and not give away your power. I recently had a chakra reading, and the reader told me I give away too much of my power. I am still pondering that one. If you have too much adrenaline due to constant stress in your life, you will suffer various physical and psychological symptoms, such as ulcers, nervous disorders and chronic fatigue. This chakra is influenced by planet Mars, fire is the element of the power chakra, iron is the metal, and sight is the dominant sense. The symbol for this center is a circle. This chakra’s color is yellow, and the sound vibration is RA.
THE FOURTH CHAKRA, THE HEART CHAKRA
The heart chakra is the fourth center, a source of love and compassion. It is located in the center of the chest. When this center is open, it expresses unconditional love for spirit, consciousness, and every level of creation. This chakra influences the thymus gland located in the center of the chest just behind the upper breast bone. The main job of the thymus in adults is to help create immunity to disease. People who are loving and open are usually healthy, but our culture’s competitive nature makes people hardhearted, and susceptible to heart disease. Think about your friends or relatives who hold in their emotions, or co-workers who constantly have a bad attitude or are chronic complainers. Don’t they get sick more often? If they do not look on the positive side of life or stop being so angry, they are the ones who will have heart attacks. All that negative energy is blocking their heart just as much as cholesterol. The heart chakra is ruled by Venus, so copper is its metal, and touch is the dominant sense. The symbol for this chakra is the equilateral cross. The color associated with the heart chakra is green, and its sound vibration is YM, pronounced Ya-Mm.

THE FIFTH CHAKRA
THE FIFTH CHAKRA OR THE THROAT
The fifth chakra is located in the throat, the center for creativity and self-expression. The throat influences the thyroid gland, which affects the entire nervous system, metabolism, muscle control and body heat production. This center is called the gateway to liberation as it leads beyond the physical/emotional planes and into the astral, or spiritual plane. The fifth chakra is influenced by planet Mercury, ether is its element, and hearing is the dominant sense. Mercury is also its metal, and the color associated with it is sky blue. The symbol is a chalice—the physical and emotional body become the Holy Grail. The sound vibration is a joyous one, HA. Once again, if you keep getting strep throat every year, you may be holding in what you need to say. It is important to learn to speak your truth quietly when you disagree with someone, do not hold your opinions and feelings inside.
THE SIXTH CHAKRA, THE THIRD, OR ALL SEEING EYE
The sixth chakra is the third, or all seeing eye, located just above and between the eyebrows, in the center of the forehead. This is the source of ESP, clairvoyance, clairaudience, heightened intuition and paranormal powers. In ancient Egyptian art, a snake coming out of this part of a Pharaoh’s forehead symbolizes a person whose kundalini energies have been raised to a very high level known as “Christ consciousness.” Think of King Tut’s mask, and the way the snake comes out from that point. The sixth center influences the pituitary gland, the master control center of the mind/body which affects all of the other endocrine systems to some degree. When a person meditates on a regular basis, they will begin to see flashes of bright colors, depending on their level of spirituality. I have been meditating fairly regularly and doing psychic exercises with my Metaphysical class mates. I can see bright blue and purple flashes of light at the point between my eyes, where my "third eye" would be. We can also "see" what is in rooms of each other's homes now, although we have not been there. The teacher explains this as astral travel. Beyond the senses and the five elements, the sixth chakra is influenced by the sun and the moon, so its metals are gold and silver. Its symbol is a six pointed star, which in turn symbolizes man’s involution, or downward spiral, and the journey back up to evolution again. The color associated with this chakra is indigo blue, and the sound vibration is one we make when experiencing the solution to a difficult problem-AH.
THE CROWN CHAKRA
The Crown chakra is located in and around the upper skull. In mystic lore, when all the lower energies are balanced, refined, and raised to this level, or cosmic consciousness, unconditional enlightenment beyond name, form, or rational experience takes place. It is this highest frequency that is the source of the halo that surrounds the head of spiritually evolved beings. The seventh center influences the pineal gland, which medically has no function, though ancient cultures thought it was the seat of the soul. Since the crown chakra is beyond our five limited senses, it is associated with an unimagined bliss and rapture. At this level a person is in complete unity with the source, or God, or whatever deity is part of your belief system. This is the mystical, transcendental, experience of I AM, pure being—or as the great Master Jesus said, “I and my Father are one.” The color of the crown chakra is purple, and its symbol is a lotus flower with its roots in the mud. This symbolizes the dense energy of the root center, its stem in the water, or emotional energies, but its blossom is fully open to the energy of the sun. The sound vibration of this center is the combination of all sounds, or OM.
I understand that it may still seem unreal that chakras exist. But different sensations or feelings really are felt in particular parts of our bodies. Our feet and legs make us feel grounded, not our ears. We have orgasms in our genitals, not our hearts-though we do feel happy then! We feel joy and happiness in our “gut”, openness and love in our chest, or heart, insight and intellect comes to us through our eyes and our heads, and spirituality at the crown. As I said earlier, it will take time to be able to feel a huge difference with meditation. But if you start, even once or twice a day for about twenty minutes, you will begin to feel yourself relax, your breathing will slow down and get shallow, and you will start to feel tension slip out of your body, maybe at points in your body that will surprise you. Then you may be able to realize you are beginning to get sick before it gets far enough to cause you too much discomfort.

I enjoyed reading your article, very informative and well written.
Everything exist. Everything exists. We are God, as viewpoint into this place, so how could we be wrong?
But if you want to see with better perspective, always be willing to step outside any belief system, whether it be chakra or Christ or Darwinism. All is subservient to YOU! Thou art God.
Hey Jean! I really like Swami Vivekananda. He drifts into belief once in a while but generally how things work come through. Nuttin' ain't nuttin'. But you. Love you, dear.
Hey Jean! I really like Swami Vivekananda. The system seems to be that everything is right and true, just that there is always more to know. This is a big place, relatively. We never die, so we see relatively smaller space or larger. Earth gets to be such a pain because of emotional wavelength that it is a good place to begin to step out into larger space. At any rate have fun, and don;t let the bedbugs bite!
I like this very much, Whenever I get free I used to read this.
I am very glad to see your informative message!
Busy schedule over here pulled me back from reading hubs!!
As a desciple of Sree Theerdha pada Ashrama Vazhoor, I know something (very smaall) regarding this Kundalini and Yoga. Yet I am very much interested in this.
Namaste....
Thank you for sparing a little time to me!. I'm also having the same intention, but as I told you I am very busy with the time schedule...
I am writing some notes regarding these concepts( presently in my notes) and I would like to Hub it soon.
( See my Hubs also! )
(The salutation is in Sanskrit as per our Indian culture the meaning is you and I are one, I am bowing to your Wisdom!)
Kundalini energy doesn't come into you. It's what makes you what you are. It is already there. Raising your Kundalini is simply utilizing the energy you already have to unite shakti(kinetic energy) with Shiva(potential energy.)Your chakras need to be cleared for this to happen. The goal is always union, and hopefully, enlightenment.
Namaste
"Happy Deepawali". The festival of LIGHTS.
You are right!.
Soul and mind is not physically visible (Is Visible by some other way) The concept of 'Body' is closely related to "PANCHABHOOTHA". Five physically visible materials.
Prudhvi(Earth),Abdhi (Water-Sea),Tejas(Fire-Agni),Vayu (Air), Akash(Sky.
Except these 'Five' materials we cannot see anything from our body.
So the Concept of that Silver Cord is Great.
As you know, that is also invisible.
And for janesix,
The unity of SHIV SHAKTHI is not simple!
Thousands and thousands of attempts are required even for starting a real meditation.
A full and proper meditation will stimulate our Energy chakras and it will lead us to Eternal Happiness.
But for the sake of everybody it is believed that nobody should start meditation without an advisor
umi san
thousands and thousands of tries are required?
not even close
took me two months, and I didn't even know what I was doing
unless you've actually had the experience, you can't say a thing about it
it's horrible,I wouldn't wish that mess on anyone
I studied about various chakras while learning kundalini yoga. Thanks for the nice hub and voted up!
Hello Madam
I read your hub. As far as I am concerned it is very interesting to me. India is supposed to be the origin of Yoga.Being a foreigner, you have got a lot of knowledge about YOGA.I think you might have undergone a deep study in this regard. I admire you and your efforts.

Thank you so much for this hub. Years ago I studied about our aura and hidden forces, but in the chaos of living somehow lost touch. Thanks for reintroducing me.
